"TRUST" - Sketchbook [from the ARCHIVES]

This is a memento from my first time in Barcelona. I sketched on a postcard a gift from the sweet staff at Moco Museum - they were grateful to me because I encouraged some American tourists, who had stopped by as the museum was closing and I was already on my way out, to come back and see the amazing exhibit the following day.

An Easter egg hides in the artwork in honor of someone that I considered to be a friend & a mentor who has since passed away. He was an advocate of mine and of many artists who he also paved the way for in our art/toy subculture. He had told me a little bit about Spain once and to eat lots of paella if I ever go, which I remembered, and so I did... and I had been planning to tell him about my trip, but I found out he had passed away the same weekend I returned home.

In the artwork, I'm also playing with the quote on the card "In art we trust", but also the message of trust as it relates to trusting your gut and having trust in yourself...
